November 7 2018 Pagan Style

Tonight is the New Moon. This is when the first waxing light appears on the face of the moon. When the moon is "waxing" it appears to be growing, the period from the dark to full moon phases. Its magnetic energy assists with bringing things to out. This is the best time to work with constructive magic, or magic that builds things/brings things to us. The waxing crescent is the best time for magic on yourself (or on the subject) pertaining to new beginnings, such as starting a new project or making plans for the future. If you're looking to conjure energies into your life such as a more positive attitude, more patience, more understanding in your relationship, this is the perfect timing for such goals. When you want to cast spells for self-improvement, such as if you want to improve your psychic abilities, to absorb the information in a new class, or bring out your inner beauty, this is the time to do it. Artists or anyone artistic/creative will find this the best time to cast spells or perform meditations that will bring inspiration and passion into your work. (Source: Exemplore.com)

The ancient Greeks and modern Hellenists celebrate Maimakterion Noumenia today. It’s a festival honouring all the Gods and Goddesses. Flutes were played; prayers were said; offerings of barley, olive oil, incense, and food were burned in an offering hearth; and libations of water and wine were made. [Maimakterion 1]

The Ohitaki Festival at Kifune Shrine, Kibune, Kyoto is held today. A sacred fire ritual to exorcise evil spirits is held.

From Nov. 7 – 9, many pagans and some Christians celebrate the Feast of Divine Justice, the Source of just law, honouring the Goddess-God as Maat-Thoth (Egyptian); Goddess as Themis (Greek), Justice (Christian), and God as Forseti (Norse).

On this day, ancient Egyptians and modern Kemetics celebrate the Ploughing the Earth Festival. This ensures a plentiful crop to come.

The Festival of Pele is celebrated in Hawaii; also the Harvest Festival honouring the God Lono.

Also today is Govardhan Puja or Annakut Puja. Most of the time, Govardhan Puja day falls the next day after Diwali Puja and it is celebrated as the day when Lord Krishna defeated God Indra. Sometimes there might be a one day gap between Diwali and Govardhan Puja. On this day food made of cereals like wheat, rice, curry made of gram flour and leafy vegetables is cooked and offered to Lord Krishna. In Maharashtra the same day is celebrated as Bali Pratipada or Bali Padva. The day commemorates the victory of Vamana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, over King Bali and subsequent exile of Bali to Patal Lok (the underworld). It is believed that due to a boon given by Lord Vamana, Asura King Bali visits the Prithvi Lok (Earth) from Patala Lok (the underworld) on this day.
Today is also Bali Pratipada or Bali Puja. Bali Puja is performed on the first day of Kartik Pratipada which falls on the next day after Diwali Puja. Bali Puja coincides with Govardhan Puja (above). While Govardhan Puja is dedicated to Govardhan hills and Lord Krishna, Bali Puja is performed to seek blessings of the Demon king Bali. It is believed that king Bali resides on the earth for three days and blesses his devotees during these days. The religious texts of Hinduism prescribe that the image of king Bali should be drawn at the center of the home along with his wife Vindhyavali. The image should be adorned with five different colours. The five coloured image should be worshipped during Bali Puja. In South India, King Bali is worshipped during Onam and the concept of Onam is same as that of Bali Puja in North India.

Jains also celebrate a festival called Diwali to mark the attainment of moksha by Mahavira.

Sikhs celebrate Diwali as Bandi Chhor Divas to mark the release of Guru Hargobind from a Mughal Empire prison.

Newar Buddhists, unlike the majority of Buddhists, celebrate Diwali today by worshipping Lakshmi.

On this day in 1586, Ursula Iselo, Ursula Stadelmann and Catharina Rauffains were burned at the stake, convicted of black magic and sorcery, in Waldsee, Germany.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - November 7

"Abuse and repression have no place in a traditional family."
-- Haida Gwaii, Traditional Circle of Elders

Traditional families guided by their culture were taught how to live. The were
taught about relationships, respect, and spirituality. Only since alcohol was
introduced to Indians have we seen physical abuse, sexual abuse and verbal
abuse. These behaviors have no room in traditional families. The cycle of abuse
must be broken during this generation. We do this by asking for help to quit
drinking and abusing and return to our traditional culture and spirituality.
Creator, plant inside of me the knowledge of the traditional family.

    YOUR DAILY NUMBER
    by Hans Decoz

    EVEN NUMBERS HAVE IT
    Today's Numbers are 6, 15, 8, 2
Wednesday, November 7, 2018: Domestic matters such as decorating, gardening, or home-repair could attract your attention today. The 8 and 6 combination focuses on practical matters, particularly those concerning home and family. Legal and moral issues could also surface.

When even numbers dominate it usually bodes well for career, business, and other project-related endeavors. In combination, today's numbers tend to be lucky in finance as well. On the downside, you may be a little insensitive and easily distracted, so be mindful when communicating with others.

A 6 night is perfect for spending time with family and friends

DD Wed 7 Nov 2018[R] Ten of Stones: Richness

    Analysis:
We may find that we’re not looking in the right direction, which is delaying the finding of our success, Take the time to stop & smell the roses, there is no reason to rush to the end of this journey. We’re almost there, the way will become clear as long as we continue on our road, even if we are a bit slow & meandering.
